About us

The Watts family has been growing grapes for four generations. Our vineyards enjoy a unique microclimate near the Mokelumne River. With a dedication to quality, and a lot of hard work, we built a reputation for producing some of the finest grapes in the California wine industry.
After years of providing grapes to the best-known wineries in California, we decided to make our own wine. Our first wine was a 1999 Old Vine Zinfandel.
Today, we offer many different varietals of award-winning wine. We hope you enjoy drinking Watts wine as much as we enjoy making it.

Spring time flowers at Los Robles Vineyard in Clements, CA

Picture
This beautiful Los Robles Vineyard, named after the six oak trees we planted around, is home of most of our red varietals. Craig has to keep a close watch on this field for water and tractor compatibility. In other words, the natural vernal pools, if watered also by the irrigation will eat the tractor for days, if the grower is not careful. So far in 2010, Craig and Valentine have stuck two tractors in the mud, though the natural spring rains were at fault this time! Valentine Flores is Craig's right hand man in the fields and the two work as a team all year round.

Taking Flight

Thanks to the fallow field next door, and the Mokelumne River, Casa Azul Vineyard has many opportunities to host local hawks and falcons. Sheri and Craig are lucky to live with these majestic birds.
